Laser Therapy for Perio

Serving Brentwood, Belle Meade and Green Hills Areas of Nashville TN

Advances in technology have made the process of receiving dental care more comfortable and convenient than ever. At Devine Dentistry, we can use state-of-the-art laser dentistry to perform many soft tissue procedures—and do so more efficiently and with better results than traditional dental procedures.

Our Dental Laser

Your local Nashville oral health care team at Devine Dentistry uses the Beamer STL 980, a cutting-edge dental surgical soft-tissue laser known for its accuracy, performance, and reliability. No other dental laser on the market has a higher customer service rating.

The precision and accuracy of dental lasers allow a trained dentist or hygienist to treat infected gum tissue for treatment of periodontal (gum) disease.

What procedures can benefit from laser dentistry?

At Devine Dentistry, our dentists and dental hygienists are trained and certified to use the Beamer STL 980. We prefer to use the dental laser in the following types of procedures:

Periodontal disease treatment: The dental laser can remove infected gum tissue, which causes gum disease, as well as killing harmful oral bacteria. By denaturing the bacteria’s proteins, the laser is able to accelerate healing of the gum tissue. It can be used as a complement to other periodontal procedures such as repetitive therapy—a combination of scaling and root planing used to clean teeth below the gums.

Apthous ulcer and fever blister removal: The laser is able to remove the ulcers, which also are known as canker sores, or blisters with minimal inconvenience. These lesions can last anywhere from 7-14 days, becoming extremely uncomfortable. However, after being treated with the Beamer STL 980 laser, these blisters and ulcers can go away in as few as three to five days. Plus, removing fever blisters with a laser decreases the chance that it will reappear in the same location.

Benefits of Laser Dentistry

  • Convenience: A dental laser works more quickly than traditional means, which gets you on with your daily life.
  • Comfort: Performing gum surgery and other soft-tissue procedures in the past involved cutting into the tissue with a scalpel. This often made for an intensive, uncomfortable process with significant bleeding and prolonged recovery times. By using the Beamer STL 980, however, the same soft-tissue procedures can be performed with minimal discomfort and much shorter recovery time.
  • Health: The dental laser immediately cauterizes any incision that is made, significantly reducing the risk of infection. This cauterization also minimizes bleeding and eliminates the need for stitches or sutures. Any risk of exposure or damage to tooth roots during a procedure on the gums also decreases.

Precision: Because the Beamer STL 980 can make incisions mere nanometers deep, it is more precise than any hand tool such as a scalpel.
